OHIO — A high-speed chase through Jackson County on Monday afternoon ended with two arrests and the recovery of suspected illegal drugs.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the incident began around 4:16 p.m. on June 2, when a trooper from the Jackson Patrol Post attempted to stop a vehicle on U.S. Route 35 for aggressive and dangerous driving.
The driver refused to stop, leading troopers on an extended pursuit through local county and township roads.
The chase ended when troopers executed a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver on Sour Run Road, successfully bringing the vehicle to a stop.
During the pursuit, investigators say suspected illegal drugs were thrown from the vehicle. The substances were later recovered by authorities.
The driver was identified as 31-year-old Derek Blubaugh of Mechanicsburg, Ohio. His passenger, 49-year-old Jermaine Carr of Dayton, Ohio, was found to have an active felony warrant for robbery out of Franklin County. Both men were taken into custody without injury.
No one was hurt in the incident, though the suspect vehicle and two patrol vehicles sustained minor damage. Blubaugh and Carr were transported to the Jackson County Jail. The investigation is ongoing.
