OHIO — A Harrison Township deputy’s cruiser was struck twice Tuesday during a traffic stop involving a suspect wanted on two active felony warrants, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were called to the Marathon Gas Station on North Dixie Drive for a reported sighting of the suspect. They initiated a traffic stop on a truck in which the man was riding.

The driver, identified as Danny Worthington, suddenly put the truck in reverse and backed into a marked cruiser with its emergency lights activated. He then turned the vehicle toward the cruiser and struck it a second time before fleeing the scene.

Worthington led deputies on a pursuit, passing several vehicles before crashing head-on into a utility pole. He was evaluated by medical personnel and then taken into custody.

He is facing charges including felonious assault on a police officer, fleeing, and obstructing, and is currently being held in the Montgomery County Jail. The deputy whose cruiser was hit was not injured.
