MICHIGAN — A 29-year-old woman from Lincoln Park was arrested early Thursday morning following a vehicle pursuit that began in Ash Township and ended in the City of Flat Rock, according to authorities.
The incident began at approximately 12:59 a.m. when a pursuit was initiated in Ash Township. Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said Monroe County Central Dispatch was later notified that Flat Rock Police Department was pursuing a vehicle southbound on North Telegraph Road from the county line. Flat Rock police terminated their pursuit shortly after entering Monroe County, and sheriff’s deputies began searching the area for the vehicle.
At about 1:08 a.m., a deputy located the suspect vehicle traveling north on North Telegraph Road near Sigler Road after it had turned around. When the deputy attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle fled, prompting a second pursuit.
During the chase, authorities said the vehicle swerved across all four lanes of North Telegraph Road at speeds reaching up to 70 mph. Near South Huron River Drive at the county line, another deputy deployed stop sticks, deflating multiple tires. Despite the damage, the suspect continued driving into Flat Rock.
Police said the suspect made a sudden U-turn on Huron River Drive and struck a deputy’s patrol vehicle head-on before turning around again. The vehicle continued to be driven erratically across lanes of traffic on its rims, eventually leaving the roadway and traveling through several business parking lots before coming to rest at a car wash parking lot on North Telegraph Road.
The driver was taken into custody without further incident. She faces multiple charges, including fleeing and eluding, resisting and obstructing, felonious assault on a police officer, operating under the influence of drugs, possession of methamphetamine, and driving while license suspended.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office at 734-240-7758.
