KENTUCKY — A 26-year-old woman from Fairdale is facing multiple charges following a high-speed pursuit that crossed into Hart County early Friday, Kentucky State Police reported.
Troopers said Quinisha Smith was initially observed traveling 97 mph in a 70 mph zone on Interstate 65 near Smiths Grove. Despite police activating emergency lights, Smith allegedly refused to yield and reached speeds of up to 120 mph.
Authorities deployed tire deflation devices near exit 53 for Cave City, deflating the passenger-side tires, but Smith’s vehicle continued until stopping in the emergency lane in Hart County. Smith and three passengers were taken into custody.
Police confirmed Smith had an outstanding warrant from Jefferson County, and two passengers were also wanted on warrants. Officers discovered a large sum of cash in Smith’s possession and, following a K-9 alert, located a scale with white powdered residue in the vehicle.
Smith remains in the Hart County Jail facing multiple charges, including speeding 26 mph or more over the limit, reckless driving, first-degree fleeing or evading police, first-degree wanton endangerment, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
