One person arrested following police chase in Kentucky

KENTUCKY — A Tennessee man faces multiple charges after a high-speed vehicle pursuit that extended into Warren County on Friday, authorities reported.

According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received reports of a black passenger car traveling at excessive speeds eastbound on Bowling Green Road, passing through a school zone.

The vehicle was reportedly traveling over 100 mph and refused to stop when deputies attempted a traffic stop.

Deputies deployed stop sticks, but the driver swerved around them and continued fleeing into Warren County.

The vehicle later lost control in a construction zone, nearly striking a bicyclist and multiple vehicles, before colliding with a deputy’s cruiser, which disabled the car.

The driver, identified as 27-year-old Rodney Compton of Springfield, Tennessee, and a passenger were detained. Compton was taken to The Medical Center at Russellville for a blood draw.

He remains in the Logan County Detention Center facing multiple charges, including first-degree fleeing or evading police, first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, first-degree wanton endangerment, speeding more than 26 mph over the limit, reckless driving, improper passing, disregarding a traffic control device, operating on a suspended or revoked license, and driving under the influence.
