
ALABAMA — A Whistler man was arrested early Thursday morning after allegedly leading Mobile police on a pursuit and facing multiple drug-related charges, according to the Mobile Police Department.
Officers on patrol attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation around 1:30 a.m. in the area of Old Shell Road and Bush Avenue. Police said the driver refused to pull over despite officers activating their audible sirens and emergency blue lights.
During the pursuit, the driver allegedly threw items from the vehicle. Responding officers later recovered those items, according to a department news release.
Authorities identified the driver as 40-year-old Demarcus Sanders. He was taken into custody and charged with first-degree possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, attempting to elude, possession of a controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence.
Sanders was transported to the Metro Jail.
