TENNESSEE — A Knoxville man has been arrested in connection with a series of car break-ins reported in downtown parking garages earlier this month, according to police.

The Knoxville Police Department said Robert Brabson Jr., 19, was arrested Thursday and charged with 10 counts of burglary, five counts of theft, two counts of theft of a firearm, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Police said multiple vehicle burglaries were reported between Jan. 4 and Jan. 14 at several downtown locations, including the State Street Garage, the Civic Coliseum parking garage, and the Marble Alley parking garage. Detectives reviewed surveillance video from the locations and determined the same suspect was involved in each incident.

According to KPD, Brabson Jr. was identified as the suspect through the surveillance footage. Investigators later learned he was staying at an apartment complex off Hall of Fame Drive, where he was taken into custody.

During a search of the apartment, detectives said they recovered six firearms, including four that had been reported stolen from vehicles. Police also found clothing matching what the suspect was seen wearing in the surveillance videos, along with additional evidence linking him to the burglaries.

Police said Brabson Jr. also had an active warrant for violation of probation related to a prior aggravated assault charge. KPD said additional charges are pending as the investigation continues.
