TENNESSEE — A motorist who led law enforcement on a reckless, multi-county pursuit has been apprehended, according to the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department.

The incident began on the afternoon of March 20, 2025, when deputies from the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office observed a vehicle driving erratically on Highway 51 between Newbern and Dyersburg.

When officers attempted a traffic stop, the driver refused to comply and fled, prompting a pursuit that soon involved deputies from Crockett County.

The chase escalated when the suspect, identified as 36-year-old Eddie Ray Patterson, attempted to collide with a Tennessee Highway Patrol vehicle, further endangering officers and other motorists.

Law enforcement was able to bring the pursuit to an end on Highway 412 near the intersection of Highway 70/79.

Patterson was taken into custody and is facing multiple charges across several jurisdictions, including reckless driving, evading arrest, assault on a law enforcement officer, speeding, and other traffic-related offenses.

Patterson is currently being held at the Crockett County Jail pending further legal proceedings.
