TENNESSEE — A man was arrested on drug trafficking-related charges following a traffic stop over the weekend in Knox County, according to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s officials said narcotics detectives stopped a tractor-trailer for speeding near the eastbound truck scales on Interstate 40. During the stop, detectives reported observing indicators they said were consistent with high-level narcotics trafficking.
A K-9 unit was called to the scene and alerted to the odor of narcotics, authorities said. A subsequent search of the tractor-trailer led to the discovery of more than 44 pounds of suspected cocaine.
One man was taken into custody and charged with offenses related to drug trafficking. The investigation remains ongoing, according to the sheriff’s office.
