NORTH CAROLINA — A routine traffic stop on Interstate 40 led to a significant drug seizure, according to the Duplin County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Division (SOD) and the Duplin Interstate Criminal Enforcement (DICE) Team conducted the stop on Tuesday, November 25, near mile marker 361.
The vehicle was driven by 25-year-old Lourdes Kelis Diamond Nicole Canty of High Point.
During the stop, deputies found 422 grams of methamphetamine—approximately one pound—and 47 grams of fentanyl hidden in the vehicle. Canty was arrested at the scene, and the narcotics were seized.
Canty faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, including three counts of trafficking methamphetamine, two counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver a Schedule II controlled substance, three counts of trafficking opium or heroin, one count of maintaining a vehicle, dwelling, or place for a controlled substance, and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. She is being held in the Duplin County Jail on a $1,000,000 secured bond.
Sheriff Stratton Stokes praised the DICE Unit for their work, stating they are dedicated to removing illegal drugs from the community.
