SOUTH CAROLINA — A joint law enforcement operation in Camden led to the seizure of a significant amount of fentanyl and the arrest of a local man early Wednesday, according to the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said deputies worked alongside the Camden Police Department and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) during the operation.
Investigators reported seizing approximately half a pound of fentanyl. Officials said the discovery was made after a K9 unit alerted officers to the presence of narcotics during a stop.
Sheriff Lee Boan said the operation highlights ongoing cooperation between agencies to combat drug trafficking in the area and remove dangerous substances from the community.
Following the investigation, authorities arrested 47-year-old Angelo Deon Stradford, of Lugoff. He has been charged with trafficking fentanyl.
Stradford is currently being held at the Kershaw County Detention Center and is awaiting a bond hearing.
Officials said the investigation remains ongoing.
