FLORIDA — A California man was arrested in Pensacola after more than 600 pounds of cannabis were discovered hidden inside a shipment of oranges, authorities said.
Roberto Feria faces a felony drug trafficking charge following the seizure, which occurred Monday at the Agriculture Inspection Station.
According to officials, officers were inspecting a semi-truck hauling oranges from Visalia, California, when they detected the odor of cannabis. A further search uncovered 17 duffle bags and five trash bags concealed among the pallets of fruit.
Testing confirmed the shipment contained 671 pounds of THC cannabis.
The drugs were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
