FLORIDA — A traffic stop on Interstate 10 in Baldwin County led to the arrest of a man and the discovery of 65 pounds of marijuana, according to the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office.
In a news release, deputies said a vehicle was stopped on Interstate 10 near mile marker 58 on January 14. The driver was identified as Andres Hernandez, 30.
Authorities said Hernandez told deputies he was traveling from California to Miami, but investigators determined he was not truthful about his travel details. Deputies requested consent to search the vehicle, which Hernandez denied.
The Loxley Police Department assisted at the scene by deploying a K9 unit. Officials said the K9 alerted to the presence of narcotics, giving deputies probable cause to search the vehicle.
During the search, deputies reported finding approximately 65 pounds of marijuana packaged in trash bags and duffel bags inside the trunk.
Hernandez was taken into custody and charged with drug trafficking. The case remains under investigation.
