SOUTH CAROLINA — A 24-year-old man was arrested Tuesday on charges of kidnapping and first-degree assault and battery, according to the Florence Police Department.
Authorities identified the suspect as Jarva Ledel McRae of Florence. Police said officers responded to the 300 block of Park Avenue after receiving a report of an assault.
Upon arrival, officers found McRae and the victim on the front porch of a home. According to an arrest warrant, the victim had busted lips and blood on her mouth and reported being struck multiple times in the head with a closed fist.
The warrant also stated that McRae prevented the victim from leaving his vehicle by pulling her back inside and closing the door.
After she briefly freed herself, McRae allegedly chased her, dragged her back to the car, and covered her mouth as she screamed for help. Officers said the incident was captured on security cameras at the home.
McRae is being held at the Florence County Detention Center with a $10,000 surety bond for the assault charge and no bond for the kidnapping charge.
