INDIANA — A 25-year-old man is facing multiple charges after police say he rear-ended a vehicle and crashed into a wall of pallets outside a Walmart on Friday night.
Evansville Police responded around 10:30 p.m. to the intersection of Burkhardt Road and Virginia Street.
When officers arrived, they found tire tracks in the grass leading to a car lodged against a stack of pallets in the Walmart parking lot.
Witnesses told police that Trevor Foster was driving south on Burkhardt Road when he rear-ended another vehicle.
He then reportedly crossed into the northbound lanes at a high rate of speed, struck a curb on Virginia Street, and spun out in the grass before hitting the pallets.
A passenger in the other car was taken to the hospital with back pain and numbness in their legs.
Foster told officers he had been eating a cookie and passed out while driving.
An accident reconstructionist determined that while the initial collision occurred at a low speed, Foster’s vehicle accelerated to more than 60 miles per hour as it crossed the grass.
Police said Foster showed signs of impairment from narcotics, but due to injuries from the crash, they were unable to conduct a test. He was arrested on charges of reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident and taken to the Vanderburgh County Jail.
