One person arrested following high speed chase in Ohio

OHIO — A police pursuit through Boardman on Monday night resulted in the arrest of Robin Posey Jr., following a coordinated effort among multiple law enforcement agencies.

The chase began around 7:30 p.m. when a Boardman police officer, stopped at a traffic light at Market Street and Shields Road, noticed a vehicle with expired registration.

Upon further investigation, the officer discovered the vehicle’s owner had a suspended license. When the officer attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle fled, initiating the pursuit.

The chase covered approximately three miles, including Friendship Avenue, Forest Park Drive, and Glenwood Avenue, with speeds ranging from 65 to 80 mph.

Police reported numerous traffic violations during the pursuit, including driving into oncoming traffic, running traffic signals, and speeding.

Boardman police ended the pursuit near Tippecanoe Road, issuing a be-on-the-lookout (BOLO) alert for the vehicle. Liberty Township Police later located the car and initiated a second pursuit, which was also terminated.

Security footage eventually confirmed that Posey Jr. was driving the vehicle.

Later that evening, Posey Jr. called Youngstown police, claiming his car had been stolen. However, a witness at his residence stated he had been seen driving the vehicle earlier.

Liberty Township officers arrested Posey Jr. when he returned home.

He was charged with failure to comply with a police officer’s signal and booked into Trumbull County Jail.

Posey Jr. appeared in court Tuesday morning to face the charges.
