PENNSYLVANIA — A Mifflin County man is in jail after police said he was found with drugs and stolen firearms in Huntingdon early Tuesday morning.
According to police, officers discovered Derrick McCarty, of McVeytown, passed out inside a vehicle around 2:30 a.m. on the 100 block of Penn Street. When searched, McCarty was found with a firearm despite being prohibited from possessing one.
A further search of the vehicle uncovered suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, a second firearm, and another illegally-owned weapon. Police said the firearms had been reported stolen from a residence in Shade Gap earlier this year.
McCarty was taken into custody and is being held at the Huntingdon County Jail on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges.
