One person arrested following drug bust in Virginia

VIRGINIA — A convicted felon faces multiple charges after suspected drugs and firearms were seized during a Thursday morning operation in Emporia.

On August 28, detectives from the Emporia Police Department, along with the Virginia State Police Meherrin Drug Task Force, the Virginia State Police Special Operations Division Tactical Team, and the ATF Norfolk Field Office, executed a search warrant at 419 E. Atlantic Street. The warrant stemmed from an anonymous drug complaint to the Emporia Police Department.

Authorities reported finding large amounts of suspected marijuana and cocaine, as well as firearms and ammunition.

Shakeil Pair was arrested at the scene and charged with possession of a firearm with schedule I/II narcotics, possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon, possession of schedule I/II narcotics, and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

Pair was held without bond at the Southside Regional Jail and is scheduled to appear in Emporia General District Court at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 2.
