
VIRGINIA — A Covington man was arrested following a joint narcotics investigation that led to the seizure of 230 grams of methamphetamine, according to a news release from the City of Covington Division of Police.
On July 18, 2025, the Alleghany Highlands Drug Task Force, working alongside the United States Postal Inspection Service, intercepted a suspicious package that tested positive for methamphetamine.
Officers seized the package and arrested Gary Monroe Goode, 48, of 2000 Mallow Road in Covington.
Goode was taken to the Alleghany Regional Jail and charged with possession of a Schedule I or II narcotic with intent to distribute.
The investigation was supported by law enforcement personnel from the City of Covington, Alleghany, Bath, and Craig counties, as well as the Virginia State Police, the Covington Division of Police, and the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office.
