TENNESSEE — A traffic stop in East Knoxville Tuesday night led to the arrest of a 34-year-old man on multiple weapons and drug-related charges, according to the Knoxville Police Department.
Police said officers stopped a vehicle around 10 p.m. on Jan. 7 at the intersection of Martin Luther King Avenue and Ben Hur Avenue after the driver failed to yield at a red light and nearly caused a crash. The driver was identified as Bobby Dockery, 34.
According to KPD, when officers asked Dockery to step out of the vehicle, they observed a glass pipe and a loaded handgun in the door of the car.
A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a second loaded handgun, an unmarked pill bottle containing several pills, a crossbow, a pellet gun, a large quantity of ammunition, knives, and multiple items of drug paraphernalia.
Police said Dockery admitted that the items found in the vehicle belonged to him.
Dockery was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of unlawful drug paraphernalia, and driving with a suspended license. The incident remains under investigation.
