OHIO — A Portsmouth man is facing multiple felony charges following a drug-related arrest Saturday night in Scioto County, according to the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said Jason E. Blair, 33, of Portsmouth, was arrested just after 8 p.m. after officers responded to a reported disturbance on Clayton Court in West Portsmouth. Authorities said they were informed that a man was beating on a door and yelling at a woman inside a residence.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they said Blair attempted to leave the home in a vehicle and tried to drive around law enforcement as officers initiated a traffic stop. Blair was detained, and deputies reported finding drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine during a search. According to the sheriff’s office, Blair consented to a search of his vehicle, where deputies discovered eight bags of pre-packaged drugs stored inside a safe.
The drugs were later identified as methamphetamine and were determined to weigh 65 times the legal bulk amount, deputies said. Investigators also found digital scales, three cell phones, and cash during the search.
Blair has been charged with aggravated trafficking in drugs, aggravated possession of drugs, hidden components in a vehicle, possession of criminal tools, and possession of drug paraphernalia. All charges are felonies except for the drug paraphernalia charge. He is currently being held at the Scioto County Jail on a $73,250 bond.
