One person arrested following drug bust in Ohio

OHIO — A Springfield man was arrested Thursday night after a traffic stop led to the discovery of a significant amount of methamphetamine, according to the Washington Township Police Department.

At approximately 10:15 p.m., officers stopped 41-year-old Ryan Tuggle on State Route 708 near U.S. 33 for multiple equipment violations. During the stop, officers observed signs of drug use and called in Bellefontaine Police K9 Pyro, who alerted to the presence of narcotics in Tuggle’s vehicle.

Tuggle reportedly resisted officers’ attempts to perform a pat-down and refused to be handcuffed. He sustained minor injuries during the struggle and was treated on the scene by Indian Lake EMS.

A search of the vehicle revealed 18 grams of methamphetamine, packaged in bulk amounts and confirmed positive through testing. Tuggle was arrested and booked into the Logan County Jail on charges including drug possession, drug trafficking, and resisting arrest.

The arrest involved coordination among multiple agencies, including the Bellefontaine Police Department, Russells Point Police, and Indian Lake EMS.

Washington Township Police Chief Michael Thompson praised the teamwork: “I am thankful for the incredible working relationship between all law enforcement agencies in Logan County. Because of this, Logan County is a much safer place to live, work, and visit.”
