OHIO — A Findlay man was arrested late Monday night after police say he attempted to discard a large quantity of crack cocaine during a traffic stop.
According to the Findlay Police Department, officers were in the 11000 block of Township Road 145 around 11:55 p.m. on June 16 in response to multiple reports of suspicious activity.
While monitoring the area, officers observed a vehicle arrive and leave shortly thereafter.
Police initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, which pulled into a store parking lot in the 1200 block of West Main Cross Street.
Authorities say the driver exited the vehicle and ran into the store, prompting a foot chase.
Officers quickly apprehended the suspect, identified as 52-year-old Darrell Williams.
After reviewing store surveillance footage and searching the area where Williams ran, police located approximately 83.5 grams of suspected crack cocaine, which Williams allegedly attempted to discard.
A moderate amount of cash was also recovered from Williams during the arrest. He is facing charges of Possession of Drugs and Obstructing Official Business.
