One person arrested following drug bust in North Carolina

NORTH CAROLINA — An Elizabeth City man is in custody facing multiple drug and firearm charges following an investigation Thursday afternoon, according to police.

Officers with the Elizabeth City Police Department were called around 1:20 p.m. to a report of a suspicious situation in the 1400 block of Walker Avenue. After investigating, officers identified 25-year-old Jaylen Spivey, of the 700 block of Second Street, as the suspect.

Police said Spivey was charged with trafficking in fentanyl, possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, possession with intent to make, sell, or deliver fentanyl, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Spivey was taken to the Albemarle District Jail and is being held without bond. The investigation remains active.
