
NORTH CAROLINA — A wanted fugitive was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon following a joint effort by local and state law enforcement agencies, authorities said.
According to the Asheville Police Department, officers assisted the North Carolina Bureau of Investigation in locating and arresting 36-year-old Tyrone Rushad Brown. The arrest occurred around 12:35 p.m. in the 400 block of Smokey Park Highway.
Police said Brown had an active warrant for a federal probation violation. During the arrest, officers found Brown in possession of a firearm and drugs.
Brown now faces multiple charges, including felony possession of a firearm by a felon, felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver a Schedule II controlled substance, two counts of felony possession of a Schedule II substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, carrying a concealed gun, and a warrant for extradition as a fugitive from another state.
Brown was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility and is being held under a $100,000 bond.
