NORTH CAROLINA — A La Grange man was arrested Wednesday after detectives with the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office served multiple narcotics-related warrants stemming from an investigation prompted by citizen reports.
Detectives from the Narcotics Unit, assisted by D-Shift patrol deputies, took 23-year-old Joseph Byrd into custody on Dec. 10. The investigation began after several residents raised concerns about suspected street-level drug activity in the area, according to the sheriff’s office.
Byrd is charged with possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule IV controlled substance, felony possession of marijuana, and maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances. He was given a $7,500 secured bond.
The Sheriff’s Office emphasized that the case demonstrates the value of public involvement and encouraged community members to continue reporting suspicious or criminal behavior.
