NORTH CAROLINA — A routine early-morning traffic stop led to DWI and drug charges for a local man, according to Kinston Police Department officials.
Officers from KPD’s B-Squad conducted the stop around 2:20 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, for a suspected impaired driver. Police determined the driver, 68-year-old Williams Cooke, was impaired and took him into custody.
A search of Cooke revealed cocaine and marijuana in his possession. He was booked into the Lenoir County Jail under a secured bond.
Cooke is facing charges of Driving While Impaired (DWI), possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, and possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance.
