One person arrested following drug bust in North Carolina

NORTH CAROLINA — A three-month investigation by the Wilmington Police Department has resulted in the arrest of a 25-year-old man on multiple felony drug-trafficking charges.

Andrew Beard was taken into custody Tuesday, Sept. 9, following the execution of a search warrant in the 1100 block of Greenwood Avenue. Police said they recovered large amounts of drugs, four handguns, a ballistics vest, and more than $78,000 in cash.

Seized drugs included 960 grams of cocaine, nearly 1,000 grams of MDMA, 520 grams of marijuana, and several ounces of THC wax.

Beard faces several charges, including felony trafficking in MDA/MDMA, trafficking in cocaine, possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver (PWIMSD) cocaine, PWIMSD MDA/MDMA, PWIMSD marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, manufacturing cocaine, manufacturing a Schedule I controlled substance, and felony maintaining a vehicle/dwelling for controlled substances.

Beard made his first court appearance Wednesday, where a judge set his bond at $1 million secured. He remains in the New Hanover County Detention Center.

The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office Vice and Narcotics Unit assisted in the investigation.
