NORTH CAROLINA — Deputies arrested a man Tuesday evening after a family dispute escalated into violence and a subsequent drug seizure.
According to the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office, officers responded around 5:45 p.m. to a welfare check at 2808 Candlenut Road involving 30-year-old Brandon Wayne Taylor.
Investigators say the victim, who had come to check on his son, reported that Taylor physically assaulted him during a brief conversation, causing injuries.
Deputies said Taylor then retrieved a firearm from his vehicle, but the victim was able to leave and call 911. Officers located Taylor near a wooded area outside the residence and took him into custody without incident.
Taylor faces one count of felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. He is being held at the Guilford County Detention Center without bond due to his pre-trial release status.
A search warrant executed at the home resulted in the seizure of a firearm, several pounds of marijuana, and other narcotics. Authorities say the investigation is ongoing, with additional charges possible.
