
NORTH CAROLINA — A 27-year-old Jacksonville man was arrested Tuesday on multiple charges, including possession of a firearm by a felon and trafficking opium or heroin.
According to police, Marquese R. Sanders was found with more than 28 grams of opioids. Sanders is prohibited from possessing a firearm due to a prior felony conviction.
Warrants also detail charges related to distribution of heroin and para-fluoroisobutyryl fentanyl, as well as possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug crime.
Sanders previously pleaded guilty in federal court for a felony committed in 2018 and was sentenced to 114 months in prison, followed by eight years of supervised release.
He remains in custody at the Onslow County Jail with a total bond set at $150,000.
