MARYLAND — A Delaware man is in custody after a traffic stop in Cambridge Monday night led to a high-speed chase and the discovery of a large quantity of drugs, authorities said.
Around 9 p.m., a Dorchester County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to pull over a vehicle near Race Street and Cedar Street for a non-functioning rear license plate light.
The driver fled, committing multiple traffic violations through residential neighborhoods, including running stop signs, driving the wrong way on a one-way street, and putting pedestrians and other motorists at risk.
The pursuit ended in the 800 block of Wood Street when the suspect lost control and struck a parked vehicle.
He then fled on foot but was quickly apprehended by deputies.
A search of the vehicle uncovered 668 grams of suspected cannabis, various quantities of suspected crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and $3,232 in cash.
The driver, identified as 22-year-old Bray’Veon Demby, was arrested and charged with numerous drug offenses. He is currently being held without bond at the Dorchester County Detention Center.
