
LOUISIANA — A traffic stop in Iberia Parish led to a drug arrest after deputies discovered suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office said they stopped a red Chevrolet Silverado after observing multiple traffic violations. During the stop, deputies developed probable cause to search the vehicle.
Authorities said the search resulted in the discovery of approximately 2.4 grams of suspected methamphetamine/fentanyl, about 1.5 grams of marijuana, a glass pipe containing suspected methamphetamine residue, and a torch.
As a result of the investigation, Lacey Abernathy was arrested and booked into the Iberia Parish Jail. She faces charges of possession of a Schedule II controlled dangerous substance (methamphetamine/fentanyl), possession of a Schedule I controlled dangerous substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office said it will continue working to protect the safety and well-being of the citizens of Iberia Parish.
