KENTUCKY — A Williamsburg man was arrested after deputies found methamphetamine during a shoplifting investigation at a Walmart near Corbin, according to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the store on Aug. 22 following a report of a shoplifting incident. The suspect, identified as George Dean, 44, was found inside the store.

Investigators said Dean allegedly removed a pair of boots, put them on, and began walking around the store. He told deputies he planned to pay for the boots after finishing his shopping.

During the investigation, deputies reported finding suspected methamphetamine on Dean. They also learned he was wanted on an outstanding warrant from Whitley County.

Dean was charged with possession of a controlled substance (first-degree, second offense). The Whitley County warrant included additional charges of possession of a controlled substance (first-degree, first offense — methamphetamine) and possession of a controlled substance (first-degree — fentanyl).

He was booked into the Laurel County Correctional Center.
