IOWA — A 19-year-old Afton man faces multiple charges after being arrested Thursday evening by Creston police.
Michael Joseph Cooley was first taken into custody at the Creston-Union County Law Enforcement Center shortly before 6:40 p.m. for allegedly violating a no-contact protective order, authorities said.
Less than two hours later, Cooley was additionally charged with first-offense possession of a controlled substance—identified as marijuana—at approximately 8 p.m. following further investigation.
Cooley was booked into the Union County Jail, where he remains held without bond on the protective order violation charge pending a court appearance.
For the drug possession offense, a $1,000 cash or surety bond was set.
No further details about the circumstances of the charges were immediately released by the Creston Police Department.
