ILLINOIS — A Rockford man with an outstanding felony warrant was arrested Wednesday after leading police on a vehicle and foot chase through Freeport.
According to the Freeport Police Department, officers attempted to stop a vehicle at approximately 4:30 p.m. on April 16 near Waddell Avenue and Beach Street.
The driver, identified as 32-year-old Alvin Jones of Rockford, was known to have an active felony robbery warrant issued by the Rockford Police Department.
Jones fled from officers in his vehicle, leading them on a chase that ended near Stephenson Street and Brad Mar Drive.
He then exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended after a brief pursuit.
During a search following his arrest, officers reportedly found suspected MDMA pills in Jones’ possession.
In addition to the felony robbery warrant, Jones now faces new charges, including Possession of a Controlled Substance and Aggravated Fleeing to Elude a Peace Officer.
Jones was transported to the Stephenson County Jail, where he is currently being held. The Freeport Police Department expressed gratitude to the Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in the arrest.
Authorities remind the public that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
