ALABAMA — A Chattanooga woman was arrested on drug trafficking charges after a single-vehicle crash in Scottsboro, according to police.

Officers responded around 4:43 p.m. on Feb. 6 to a crash at the intersection of County Park Road and Scott Street. When they arrived, they made contact with the driver, 28-year-old Independance Paige Bourque.

Medical personnel evaluated Bourque at the scene, but she declined to be taken to a hospital.

During the investigation, Bourque told officers she had illegal substances in her bags, police said. A search revealed approximately 79.9 grams of synthetic marijuana, commonly known as “spice,” as well as drug paraphernalia.

Bourque was arrested and charged with trafficking synthetic cannabinoids and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was first taken to the Scottsboro City Jail and later transferred to the Jackson County Jail.
