ALABAMA — A Sheffield man is facing drug trafficking charges after a traffic stop in Colbert County earlier this week, according to the Colbert County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies pulled over a vehicle around 1 p.m. Thursday for improper lane usage near Highway 157 and Frank Lane. As a deputy approached the car, they reported detecting what appeared to be the odor of marijuana.
The Colbert County Drug Task Force was called to assist, and officers said they discovered several clear plastic bags containing approximately 1.5 ounces of fentanyl and 1.8 ounces of methamphetamine.
The driver, identified as 39-year-old Jamarcus Raymond Whitson, was arrested and charged with drug trafficking. He was taken to the Colbert County Jail, where he is being held on a $1.5 million bond.
