KENTUCKY — Kentucky State Police are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred early Saturday morning in Owen County.
Troopers said they received a call about the incident around 2 a.m. and found 26-year-old Jamar Douglas of Louisville with multiple gunshot wounds near Monterey. Douglas was unconscious when first responders arrived and was flown by helicopter to the University of Kentucky Hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.
On Sunday, police confirmed Douglas died from his injuries at 1:11 a.m. that morning.
Authorities arrested 52-year-old Gary Bullion of Ghent in connection with the shooting.
He is now charged with murder and three counts of drug possession and is being held at the Carroll County Detention Center.
Kentucky State Police were assisted at the scene by Owen County EMS, the Monterey Fire Department, Air Methods, KSP Post 12, and the Lexington Police Department. The circumstances leading to the shooting remain under investigation.
