VIRGINIA — A 26-year-old man has been arrested following a fatal shooting in Smyth County on Thursday, according to the Smyth County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a report of a shooting in the 400 block of Dry Cove Lane in Saltville. Officers from the Saltville and Chilhowie Police Departments also assisted at the scene.
When law enforcement arrived, they discovered Michael Stonewall Blevins deceased.
Skyler Lee Chance Hughes, 26, of Saltville, was identified as the alleged shooter and was taken into custody without incident. He has been charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Hughes was transported to the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Abingdon, where he is being held without bond.
