KENTUCKY — A University of Louisville student is facing charges after police say he attempted to abduct a woman on campus earlier this week.
Thomas Hood, 20, was arrested early Sept. 1 after officers responded to a report of a man carrying a large kitchen knife near the University Tower Apartments on Unity Place, off South 4th Street and West Brandeis Avenue.
According to court documents, Hood allegedly confronted a university employee outside the apartments, grabbing her arm while carrying a knife. The woman managed to escape into the building and lock herself in the basement while Hood tried to force his way inside. She later told police she feared for her life.
An unidentified man intervened, chasing Hood away. Officers located him a short time later at the Louisville Hall dormitory, where he was taken into custody.
Hood has been charged with attempted kidnapping and carrying a concealed weapon. During a Sept. 2 arraignment, a judge entered not guilty pleas on his behalf, set bond at $25,000, and appointed a public defender.
His next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 10.
