GEORGIA — A man was taken into custody Saturday evening following a vehicle pursuit on Interstate 95 in Chatham County, according to authorities.

The Georgia State Patrol said the chase began around 7:26 p.m. at mile marker 96, where troopers assisted the Pooler Police Department in pursuing a suspect vehicle.

The vehicle’s tire was eventually deflated, prompting the driver to pull over on the shoulder of the interstate.

Officials said the driver was armed and threatened to shoot himself, as well as officers, if they attempted to intervene. After negotiations, the man was convinced to drop the weapon and surrender.

He was arrested without incident by Pooler police. No injuries were reported. The suspect’s identity has not yet been released, and the investigation is ongoing.
