LOUISIANA — A traffic stop in Iberia Parish Tuesday evening led to the seizure of drugs and a firearm and resulted in multiple charges against a local man, according to authorities.

Deputies with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office said the stop occurred around 6:10 p.m. on Jan. 27, 2026, when a silver Nissan Altima was pulled over in the area of Louisiana Highway 675 and U.S. Highway 90.

During the stop, deputies said they detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A probable cause search was conducted, which led to the discovery of approximately 13.7 ounces of marijuana, 47 MDMA tablets, one whole alprazolam tablet, and five partial alprazolam tablets. Authorities also seized sandwich bags commonly used for narcotics packaging and a Taurus G2C 9mm handgun.

The driver, identified as Mactori Doucet, allegedly attempted to flee on foot but was captured after a brief pursuit.

Doucet was booked into the Iberia Parish Jail and charged with possession with intent to distribute controlled dangerous substances, illegal possession of a firearm, resisting an officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a vehicle with a suspended license, illegal window tint, and a parole violation.

The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office said it remains committed to proactive enforcement efforts to help keep the parish safe.
