VIRGINIA — A man was arrested Friday after threats were reported involving multiple daycare centers in the Roanoke area, according to the Roanoke Police Department.
Police said members of the department’s Telephone Reporting Unit received a call around 8:49 a.m. from a 211 supervisor, who reported that their agency had received a call from a man making non-specific threats toward local daycare facilities.
Authorities said officers immediately worked to identify the suspect and notified area daycare centers, advising them to remain alert and report any suspicious activity. Police emphasized that investigators determined there was no immediate threat to children or staff.
Following an investigation, the suspect was identified as 71-year-old Carlton Windell Woodruff. He was arrested later Friday. No additional details were released.
