ALABAMA — A 53-year-old Dora man was arrested Friday after leading police on a vehicle pursuit that ended along Interstate 85.
According to authorities, an Opelika police officer attempted to stop a white Chevrolet Silverado shortly after 11:30 a.m. in the 2000 block of West Point Parkway. The driver did not stop and instead fled, prompting a pursuit onto I-85 South.
The chase ended near Exit 60, where officers took the driver, identified as Bill Bret Brown of Dora, into custody.
During a search of the vehicle, officers found illegal drugs and a handgun. Investigators also determined the Chevrolet Silverado had been reported stolen from the Birmingham area.
Authorities also discovered that Brown had an active arrest warrant out of Dora for possession of a forged check.
Brown is charged with receiving stolen property, four counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, driving under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia, attempting to elude and resisting arrest.
He is currently being held at the Lee County Justice Center.
