PENNSYLVANIA — A 14-year-old from Harrisburg is facing multiple charges after allegedly stealing a vehicle and leading police on a dangerous high-speed chase through Lancaster County on May 6.
According to the Mount Joy Borough Police Department, officers responded to a report of a reckless driver and discovered the suspect — an unlicensed juvenile — had stolen a vehicle and was driving at excessive speeds.
During the pursuit, police say the teen swerved off the roadway and onto a sidewalk where pedestrians were walking, narrowly avoiding hitting them.
The juvenile also drove into oncoming traffic and ignored a stop sign, further endangering the public.
Police were eventually able to stop the vehicle and take the juvenile into custody.
He has been charged with Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Officers, along with six additional offenses related to the incident.
No injuries were reported, and the investigation is ongoing.
