KENTUCKY — One man was arrested early Christmas Day in Bowling Green following an alleged theft involving telephone wire, according to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.

Warren County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded around 3:32 a.m. on Dec. 25 to a reported theft near the intersection of Blue Level Road and Galloways Mill Road. Authorities were told that individuals had been seen attempting to steal telephone wire along Blue Level Road and were trying to leave the area.

Deputies said a community member reported witnessing the theft and later identified Justin Hale, 50, of Bowling Green, as one of the suspects involved. Hale was located in a wooded area near the 4200 block of Galloways Mill Road and taken into custody.

According to a uniform citation, deputies also found a small bag of methamphetamine in Hale’s possession. Investigators said a stolen AT&T telephone line was discovered lying next to the roadway and had been cut into sections. The value of the damaged line was estimated to be between $5,000 and $10,000.

Hale was arrested and remains lodged in the Warren County Detention Center. He is charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense (methamphetamine); theft by unlawful taking or disposition of property valued between $1,000 and $10,000; and first-degree criminal mischief involving tampering with key infrastructure assets.
