
PENNSYLVANIA — A Lancaster County man is facing charges in connection with alleged grave robberies in Pennsylvania, according to Delaware County District Attorney Tanner Rouse.
Rouse announced that Jonathan Gerlach, of Ephrata, has been arrested and charged in connection with the alleged theft of human remains from a cemetery in Delaware County. The arrest was scheduled to be formally announced during a news conference Thursday afternoon.
According to a statement from the District Attorney’s Office, the arrest followed a joint investigation conducted by detectives from the DA’s Criminal Investigative Division, the Yeadon Police Department, and the Ephrata Police Department.
Prosecutors allege that Gerlach stole bones from a Delaware County cemetery. As a result, he has been charged with burglary, abuse of a corpse and desecration, and theft or sale of venerated objects.
Additional details about the investigation and the alleged incidents were not immediately released. The case remains pending in Delaware County court.
