PENNSYLVANIA — A man is facing multiple charges after allegedly stealing an ambulance Wednesday afternoon in Montour County, according to police.
Authorities said 23-year-old Tyler Beaver of Watsontown left the emergency department at Geisinger Medical Center near Danville and ran to an unlocked ambulance parked outside. Police said Beaver attempted to drive away but was unable to get the vehicle moving.
Investigators said Beaver then ran to a second unlocked ambulance and drove off with it. Police reported that the stolen ambulance crashed through a gate at Zartman Construction before Beaver continued fleeing the area.
The pursuit ended when the ambulance became stuck in a snowbank along Old Route 11, where Beaver was taken into custody.
Police said Beaver is charged with theft of a motor vehicle, attempted theft of a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property, and fleeing or eluding a police officer. The case remains under investigation.
