TENNESSEE — Authorities have arrested a man accused of assaulting and robbing a woman of her purse in a hotel parking garage near downtown Nashville.
According to an arrest affidavit, officers responded to a reported robbery at the Hyatt House Hotel, located in the 530 block of Rep. John Lewis Way, around 7:19 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16.
The victim told police that a man wearing a white T-shirt, dark gray jeans, and white sneakers approached her from behind, grabbed her, and claimed he had a gun.
She said she saw what appeared to be the outline of a firearm under the man’s shirt before he forcefully took her purse.
During the struggle, the suspect reportedly threw the woman to the ground, causing injuries to her left hand and head. The suspect then fled the scene.
Police later found the woman’s purse near the parking garage’s exit ramp.
Surveillance footage showed the suspect attempting to open multiple vehicle doors in the parking garage before the robbery.
Hours later, at about 1:25 p.m., officers spotted a man matching the suspect’s description near Lincoln Avenue and Lafayette Street. When officers tried to approach, the man ran toward Charles E. Davis Boulevard but was later apprehended.
