SOUTH CAROLINA — A man has been charged after authorities seized 18 illegal gambling machines from a home in Gaston, according to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.
The machines were recovered March 2 during an investigation at a residence in the county. Officials said each device was identified as a “Pot O Gold” gambling machine offering games such as blackjack, keno and poker, which are prohibited under South Carolina law.
Investigators identified 51-year-old Walter Limann Hicks Sr., who lives at the home, as the operator of the machines.
Hicks has been charged with unlawful possession or operation of a slot, video, vending machine or gambling device, as well as unlawful games and betting.
He was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center.
The investigation remains ongoing.
